Presented by Christopher Shore, artist, printmaker, educator
Mamaroneck Artists Guild presents The Art of Frottage workshop as part of its 2021 Jump Start Your Art professional development series for emerging and established artists.
Learn about the art of frottage, a technique of taking a rubbing from an uneven surface to form the basis of a work of art. Initially developed in 1925 by the Surrealist artist Max Ernst, this “automatic” method of creative production was inspired by his fascination with ancient wood flooring. The results can either be left as it is or used as the basis for further exploration. No prior experience necessary.
